Teachers, introduce your students to blogging technology and to Florida’s role in the Americas all in one exciting activity. Even if you have never blogged, or if you don’t really know what blogging is, this activity will be a great introduction for you and your students.
In collaboration with classrooms around the state of Florida, your students will explore important questions about Florida’s critical position at the crossroads of the America’s. Questions such as:
- In what ways has its connection to Latin America shaped Florida – economically, socially, culturally, politically, and demographically – over the past several decades?
- While Florida has long been a final destination for Latin American immigrants, how has the composition of that immigrant group changed in the last several years?
- How has your area of the state been impacted by these connections to Latin America?
- And other exciting and important questions.
If you are interested in getting involved in this exciting project, visit the GAW 2008 Wiki at http://gaw2008.wikispaces.com/ or contact the project leader, Stephen Veliz, at StephenVeliz @ gmail.com. We want your class to get involved. No experience necessary!!
